Original family brand, circa 1935

Coffee runs three generations deep in our family. The Llama Brand label shown here is one of our earliest, from the days when the Loero family imported coffee from Peru to Los Angeles. Today that story continues at our roastery in Hanapepe, on the sunny west side of Kauai.

Our Principal Roaster has spent more than 35 years working with coffee in Hawaii. He earned a Master of Science in Horticulture from the University of Hawaii, managed coffee operations across the state, and served as President and Director of the Hawaii Coffee Growers Association. He still advises coffee and tropical crop growers here at home and around the world, and he brings that same care for the farm to every batch he roasts.

We roast to order in small batches, choosing each roast profile to bring out what makes a coffee’s origin special. Alongside our Hawaiian estate coffees, you’ll find signature blends and coffees from other growing regions, and every product page tells you exactly where your coffee was grown.

Closest to home is our 100% Kauai coffee from Kokee Farms, grown in West Kauai’s Kokee highlands beside Waimea Canyon. It’s a mix of Bourbon and Red Catuai arabica, and you can order it whole bean or ground for espresso, drip or French press. Want to see how it all comes together? Read about our roasting process.
