Cold Brew Coffee at Home

For ready-to-drink cold brew, start with 75 grams of coarsely ground coffee and 900 grams of cold water. That is a 1:12 ratio by weight.

Steep in the refrigerator for about 12 to 16 hours, then filter. Toddy Blend is our coffee made for cold brew. Choose whole bean if you grind at home, or French Press (coarse) if you need it ground.

Toddy Blend is Kauai Roastery’s coffee built for cold brew. It comes in 8 oz, 16 oz, and 5 lb bags. Choose Whole Bean if you grind at home or French Press (coarse) if you need it ground for you.

Start with a ratio you can remember

For ready-to-drink cold brew, begin with 1 part coffee to 12 parts cold water by weight. For example, use 75 grams of coffee with 900 grams of water.

Stir until the grounds are fully wet. Cover it. Steep in the refrigerator for about 12 to 16 hours. Filter through a fine filter or clean cloth. Taste it over ice before changing anything.

Want more weight and strength? Use more coffee on the next batch. Want it lighter? Add water after filtering. Small changes make a bigger difference than chasing a complicated recipe.

Avoid the two common mistakes

Do not use a fine grind. Fine grounds make filtering harder and can leave the brew cloudy or rough.

Do not leave the coffee on the grounds indefinitely. A longer steep is not automatically a better one. Begin in the 12-to-16-hour range, taste, and let your next batch follow the result.

Make enough for your week

Cold brew works because you can make it ahead. Store the filtered coffee covered in the refrigerator. Serve it cold, over ice, or diluted to your preferred strength.

For someone who makes cold brew regularly, 16 oz is the natural starting bag. The current product page has live price, availability, and grind options.
